Board Meeting, January 9th, 2020

8501 N Scottsdale Rd, Scottsdale, AZ 85253, SUITE 260 from 6-8 pm Dinner will be provided by  Pelekikena  Millie  Ho and a  team-building exercise followed by a short business meeting. Only the new Board is invited. The Wisdom of Indigenous Foodways  

Wednesday,  Jan 22nd, 2020, 4-6:30 PM at Arizona State University SkySong, Synergy Rooms I and II, 1365 N Scottsdale Road Scottsdale, AZ 85257. A summit lecture on indigenous food system transformation by native spokespersons on a wide array of related topics like biodiversity, wild foods, landrace property rights, and more all while sharing inspiring models of strength and innovation within indigenous communities.

 

This is a growing topic of interest from our Hawaiian ancestry presented in collaboration between Food Tank, the Swette Center for Sustainable Food Systems at Arizona State University and the Sustainable Community Food Systems Program at the University of Hawai’i, West O’ahu. Reception to follow.

Free Introductory Hawaiian Language Classes

The Aloha Festival started six classes, last one October 15. Hui ‘Ōlelo Hawai’ian Language Classes and Study Groups. To sign up or learn more about the classes contact Leilani Dong leilani.dong@azalohafest.org

 Classes for 2020 are set to run January-May, and August-October. We will continue to meet the third Tuesday of each month at 6:30PM, but the location will change to the Westside Mutli-Generational Center in Tempe: 715 W 5th St. Tempe, AZ 85281
